Jarod and Jennifer Ebenhack

MissionsGlobal MissionsLocal MissionsShort Term Missions

Jarod and Jennifer joined the Kids Alive® International staff with experience working with children in Haiti, having previously worked with orphaned and abandoned children with Heart of God Ministries in Port-au-Prince. In 2003, they began working with Field Directors, Tom and Helen Froese to open a children’s home in Haiti.

Jarod and Jennifer met at school and married in 1999 after receiving their degrees from the Moody Bible Institute in Applied Linguistics and International Ministries, respectively.

They have a vision for reaching the children of Haiti withthe Gospel message, and are in the process of adopting three Haitian children: twin boys, Justin and Jaden, and a girl named Daphne. Their fourth child, Dora, was born in Port-au-Prince in May of 2004, and their fifth, Brendan, was born in October 2005 in Cap Haitien.

Their ministry is not a typical orphanage. Kids Alive Haiti actually places the orphaned children in the homes of local Christian parents who, as employees of Kids Alive, will raise them as their own to adulthood. This gives the children a loving family environment and affords higher success rates as they grow.

Where Credit is Due

Sun, 07 Feb 2010 01:31:05 +0000
Reconstructing the events that happened in the past couple weeks, I would like to give credit to the different individuals and groups that helped us along the way as we supplied Port-au-Prince organizations with crucial supplies during their time of greatest need. On Friday, January 15, I read Matt McCormick’s blog.  Good idea Matt (and with [...]

Recap of My Time in Port

Sat, 06 Feb 2010 16:46:28 +0000
I last left everyone in Santiago, Dominican Republic. Well, I got on the bus to Cap Haïtien on January 29, and that began my last leg of my journey through Haiti. I did a lot of work on Saturday, including changing all of the filters and oil in my car and generator, buying food and [...]

What Lies Ahead

Fri, 29 Jan 2010 13:48:15 +0000
Starting tomorrow, I will need to make a bunch of contacts in Haiti.  My priorities are finding info on Save the Children, meeting with Siliana (Justin and Jaden’s mom), Veneste (Daphne’s mom), and Clemanie (Justin’s Aunt) to give them funds that will help them through this hard time, and tying up all of my lose [...]

Last Day in Santiago

Thu, 28 Jan 2010 15:21:49 +0000
Last night and this morning, we had four separate vehicles arrive north of Port-au-Prince. Two of them were 35 foot box trucks holding food, medical supplies, tents, tarps, and other needed supplies. One was a flatbed carrying 55 gallon barrels of kerosene, a substitute for jet A fuel, which is turning out to be impossible [...]

Getting Ready for Port

Wed, 27 Jan 2010 22:33:19 +0000
Today, I took Chad, who is going to be taking over all operations on our end, over to Jarabacoa to get his signature on the checking account and have him meet Vic Trautwine.  I got to see Jeff Vandermolen, as well, so now he knows all of my Kids Alive contacts who have played a [...]

Saving Lives

Tue, 26 Jan 2010 23:38:12 +0000
So many organizations are relying on us for supplies now, and they all say the same thing: “You are saving lives.”  It’s very humbling and encouraging.  It’s growing like crazy.  We’ve supplied Haiti with about 8000 gallons of fuel, several tons of rice and beans, and thousands of dollars worth of drinking water.  We’ve purchased [...]

Our first days in Kansas

Tue, 26 Jan 2010 02:25:09 +0000
I’ve hardly had a free moment since arriving in Kansas to blog, but I’ll say a few quick words right now. We were greeted in Wichita by many dear family members and friends. What a special moment!!! We talked, hugged, cried, took pictures, I read Psalm 66, we sang the Doxology, and [...]
