So, In one of my bible studies we were talking about what it meant to be "Fishers of Men"
Fishing for people, right? Drawing them in with the gospel. Evangelizing...
Well, one girl mentioned that it would be better to be "Fishers of Men" with a net, as opposed to a Rod. well, yeah, i can see where that might be cool and everything, to share the Gospel with a whole bunch of people as opposed to just one person....
Here's how i see it. When you fish with a net, none of your fish are actually hooked, and they flop around and sometimes they jump out of your net.
When you fish with a rod, you've actually hooked your fish. and then you spend time unhooking it and gutting it, etc.
So, when it comes to sharing the Gospel, maybe its better to be-friend non Christians first, become really good friends with one person, and then sharing your faith. As opposed to sharing your faith with a whole bunch of people, because they could think that you're crazy or just not care and walk away. but if someone knows you on a deeper level and knows, that you actually aren't crazy, they might be more open to what you believe. It takes a LOT of time, but maybe eventually God will soften their hearts and they will wonder what makes your heart so happy. :-)
Fish with a Rod, and make friends. Remember, they may not know Jesus, but Jesus still loves them no matter what, and we should too.
