This semester we are offering XEE during our Sunday morning gathering. We hope that this makes XEE more accessible to our students and less strenuous on families. Students may participate fully by having a book, doing at home assignments and becoming a student leader, or they may just soak it all in as a lesson. We meet from 9:25 - 10:30 on Sunday mornings. We also will have worship through music and drinks and donuts. Contact Skylar or Crystal if you have any questions.

This is what it is all about! A youth team with evangelism training from Arizona wanted to go on a mission trip with purpose. A Bible school in Phnom Penh, Cambodia wanted evangelism training. God put the two together and something beautiful came about. 11 trainers from the US partnered with a handful of missionaries from Malaysia to help train 23 Cambodian Bible school students. As a result, over 40 people heard the whole gospel presented, 2 people prayed for assurance in their faith, 15 people welcomed hearing the good news but needed more time to consider it, and 18 people accepted Jesus for the first time! Last night we celebrated (and some of us mourned) the end of the clinic. We ate dinner at a nice restaurant next to the Mekon River. Feeling the sense of the power of the week the Youth EE meet up in a small hotel room to pray for the great message of Jesus to impact this country.

We spent our last day here in Cambodia. It started out with some intense review of the horrific genoicide of Pol Pot Regime. We were all stunned and silenced by the Killing Fields and the Genocide Museum. We spent the rest of the afternoon playing by shopping at the Russian Market, taking an elephant ride, and then ended the day with a glorious boat ride on the Mekong River.

Pray for:
1. Lam Lee Fatt, he is a missionary from Malaysia that works here in Cambodia full time. Pray for him as he plants a new church in another province in Cambodia and uses Youth EE in that process.
2. Pray for the English Center that we had the clinic. Several people live and work there and they go out 2 times a week to share their faith. Now they have a better way to share Jesus with those around Phnom Penh.
3. Pray for our students. Pray that they do not forget what they learned here this last 9 days. Pray that they are intentional about sharing with others the amazing things God has done through them and in them.

Day 8 - Last Clinic Day

It’s the last day of the clinic we are all feeling that it has quickly gone by. It feels like yesterday when we were meeting in the youth room talking about what we should pack. All those details seem so small right now.

It is looking like the clinicians are passing their exams and at least 75% will graduate from the Youth EE clinic. One of the leaders here has told us that right after the clinic they are going to meet and talk about how to start a Youth EE Semester here. If they do, we would see amazing fruit from this clinic. To go somewhere with no Youth EE and to leave with people doing it on their own, is a great way to do ministry.

Pray for Cambodia!
1. That they can implement youth ee right away.
2. That their passion to see their own country come to know Christ would continue to grow.
3. Also pray for our students. A couple of them have commented about being changed by this trip (and a couple don't want to go home!) and they are not sure how to react to life here in Cambodia. So pray for clarity and that they would not forget what God is telling them right here in Phnom Penh.
4. Please pray for our health! Some of the kids and leaders are having stomach and digestive issues due to the change of food.

Day 7

During OJT last night, Hayley’s trainees had a chance to share the Gospel with 14 people! 3 of the 14, prayed to receive Christ. Jeff had a person pray with him and so did Frank and Kelly. We had a total of 10 people accept Christ into their lives! It is so exciting to see God at work in our little evangelism Clinic.

Today we are finishing up the last parts of this clinic. The Cambodians are grasping the concept of sharing the Gospel and continue to learn how to share it with others. The Youth EE team from Tucson has been very good at making friends with their trainees. This is a very unique situation. Even with the language barrier, our students are making friends. We can see a change in the students. They are eager to talk and joke with their new Cambodian friends, they are excited to go out and share the Gospel, and they are acting respectful of the culture and the people.

Pray for us tonight (about 4 am Tucson time):
1. As we head out on our last OJT, pray that even more people will hear the Gospel and come to know the saving power of Jesus Christ.
2. Pray for our Trainees/Clinicians, that they are able to recall all the information they have just learned in order to past the final exam.
3. Pray for our students, that as they get ready to leave Cambodia, in the next couple days, they will continue to have a heart for the lost, not only here in Cambodia but in Tucson and the rest of the world.

Day 6

Last night we had On The Job (OJT) training. OJT is the time were we go out into the streets and homes of Cambodia and witness. TJ (or known by the Cambodians as Thomas) was a part of leading 2 people to Christ. “I have never felt the power of the Holy Spirit like I did when I was in that house,” TJ said after he came back from the visit.

Most of the us walked from the English Language Center to their houses and a few of us took a motorbike. “It (the motorbike ride) was so much fun! I think I have never smiled so much before in my life!” Said Sara.

During the report back session we learned that we presented the Gospel to 14 people. 2 people prayed to receive Christ and about 5 others wanted to meet again to talk more about this message of hope.

Pray for us:
1. That the message of hope is spread here in Cambodia.
2. That OJT’s go well tonight (about 4 am your time) for us and the clinicians.
3. That the Clinicians get a vision for Cambodia to share the Gospel and maybe even have their own clinic.

Day 5 - Clinic Banquet

Yesterday we experience a grand banquet Cambodian style. About 70 people showed up to worship and pray for the week to come. We played a couple games lead by Tanita, which helped us to become closer friends to the Cambodians.

Today, on the second day of the clinic, we see God at work. The translations are coming across better and better each hour. The clinicians are excited to be here and excited to learn to share their faith. Hayley befriended a Cambodian teenage girl clinician named Bunnay. Bunnay was rejected by her parents at an early age because of a slight deformity in her leg. She was forced to live on her own and sell food on the side of the road. Though her life was tough she came to Christ here at the English Center, where the clinic is being held, and is now learning to share her faith with others.

“It’s so cool to see that she is excited about telling other people about her faith,” said Hayley of her new friend.

Pray for us:
1. In our first time going out and witnessing.
2. For the clinicians to catch a vision about Youth EE in their own home towns.
3. That our students would be and feel confident in sharing their faith through an interpreter.

Day 3 and 4 - Clinic Starts!

Yesterday we arrived in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and spent some time getting last minute details ready for the clinic. We spent the afternoon in a hotel room practicing skits and going over the Gospel presentation. We’ve felt and seen Frank and Kelly’s passion to serve God and to share the great news of Jesus Christ with those in Cambodia. In our last meeting before we went to bed Frank told us that the amount of clinicians attending the clinic has gone up! He then made a commented that we must have a ton of people praying for us here because things are going so well.

Today we arrived to the clinic center on a Tuk tuk. A tuk tuk is basically a motorbike with a carriage on the back of it. It was quite a thrill and a very unique experience. Here at the clinic about 40 people crammed into a tiny classroom to learn how to share Christ with others. With excitement in the air the clinic started with breakfast and a quick introduction of the Tucson team.

Pray for us in the following:
1. Pray that the message does not get lost in the translation from the Cambodian language to the English language.
2. Pray for Tanita. She had to spend the afternoon at the hotel nursing her knee.
3. Pray for the clinicians as they learn the Gospel. Pray that they do not get overwhelmed or intimidated but see the joy in learning to share their faith.

Day 2 - Acclimation

The day started out with breakfast and a devotion lead by Will Tilley. We headed then to the boardroom and talked about what not to do in Cambodia. Then the surprise happened. Ever heard of the Great Race? Well, Frank and Kelly prepared the “Penang Race” for us. Giving each team a cell phone and a map of the city, we experienced the culture of Malaysia and at each turn we had a chance to discover how to get a taxi, riding in a Rickshaw, and try new fruit. The experience lasted over 5 hours.

When we got back from the adventure we slowed down and headed back to the boardroom. We learned that up until this point there has not been any REAL Youth EE in Cambodia. The Youth EE book has just been translated into Khmer (the Cambodian language) last month and we are the first group to use it in a clinic. We also learned how unique our mission is. Usually mission trips have a picture of roof to take back to their church but we will be building into the kingdom.

Tomorrow we leave for Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Pray for us as we travel. Pray for Frank, Kelly, and Steve (their missionary intern) as they organize this clinic and prepare. And pray for the kids, that they continue to learn what it means to be in this country and to be flexible with the schedule and culture that surround them

Day 1 - 36 hours later

Well… We all made it here all in one piece. Our bags all made it here and the Alexander’s were prompt to pick us up at the airport. During our travels, Will, constantly gave everyone the official “Here’s how long we’ve been traveling” time. And I think the total ended up being 38 hours from Tucson to Penang, Malaysia.

As the sun set here, we were reminded that we were no longer in our comfy homes. In the distance we could here the Muslim call to prayer that blasted over an intercom about a mile a way. Kelly told us that it was this type of Muslim prayer that God used to convict her heart and to become a missionary. She stopped several times in her story to fight back the tears. Her heart had seemed to be broken for the lost here in Southern Asia.

It’s the morning now and we are getting ready for a big day of cultural acclimation classes taught by our missionary hosts. Pray for us today that our hearts would break for the lost in Cambodia and that we would continue to “commit to the Lord” this mission! - Ashley

Day 1 – Los Angeles Airport

We started out our journey at 4:00 pm as the team met in the Tucson International Airport. As we were standing in front of the United ticket desk, Thomas Aquilara (TJ’s dad) prayed for us. Our first surprise during check-in was that Sara had left her passport at home! Thankfully, we arrived at the airport two hours before our flight was scheduled, giving her mom enough time to run home, get her passport, and bring it to the airport in time for our flight.

As I saw Tucson disappearing into the distance, I was reading a little bit of Psalm 37, “Delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” I stopped and thought, do I really delight in the Lord? I want to delight more in the Lord than in the next cool gadget or TV show or movie. May we find ways on this trip to delight in the Lord. That’s my prayer. Will you join us in this prayer that we would learn to delight more and more in the Lord?

It’s also interesting that the following verse says “Commit your way to the Lord, trust in Him and He will act.” Let us continue to commit this trip to the Lord, trusting in Him. For the he promises that “HE WILL ACT!!!” - Ashley
