Location: 2150 E. Orange Grove Rd., Tucson, Arizona 85718Category: Family Ministry | Coordinator: Amanda Quinn
Come join us for a fun and relaxed time of fellowship, snacks, and getting in to the Christmas spirit!
We will have Gingerbread house building, cookie decorating and an opportunity for you and yours to build a life size manger! This event is self-guided so feel free to come and go as you please!
The Manger Build is a great opportunity for dads, uncles, grandpas or father figures to help their kids or someone else’s build something together! In order to cover the cost of materials, the Manger Build costs $15 per manger. There is no charge for the other activities.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I come and build a manger?
The Manger Build is a chance to engage with your (or other people’s) kids in a fun, hands-on activity for Christmas! You will also get a set of Christmas devotions to do with your family at home. In short, it is simply one way to bring your family together around the true meaning of Christmas!
If we build a manger, what do we do with it after Christmas?
There are lots of options: fill it with goodies and give it to the local fire or police station, give it to grandma or Aunt Sally to use in next year’s decorations, fill it with much needed items and donate it to a local charity, or get creative and turn it in to a cross for Easter (See themangerbuild.org for more information on this).
Do I have to pay if I just want to come for cookies and gingerbread houses?
No, the $15 fee is only to cover the cost of the materials for the mangers, but please still register so we know how many cookies to provide! J
What if I really want to build a manger but cannot come on Dec. 1?
We want you to still build one! Here’s how: sign up anyway but put a note in the comments section letting us know you need to pick up your kit on another day.
What should I bring?
If you have a hammer go ahead and grab that, if not, no worries! We will provide safety goggles, nails, precut wood, and extra hammers for those who do not own one.
How can I donate to and/or help with this event?
We are taking donations for the gingerbread houses and cookie decorations: candy, white frosting, graham crackers and any fun cookie decorating items! Look for our table in the Narthex!
